48 hours of continuous prayer for individual concerns, the wider community around St James and further afield. Running in conjunction with St John the Evangelist, Hills Road and St Andrew’s, Cherry Hinton. Prayer request cards are now available at St James’ and have been delivered to every household in the parish.
A program of the specific events for the 2017 Prayer 48 weekend is available here.
In 2017 Prayer 48 is taking place between Ascension Day and Pentecost, traditionally a time of prayer for the Christian church following the example of the first disciples after Jesus’ Ascension to heaven:
“They were all with one accord constantly at prayer”
It will also be a response to the Archbishops’ call, to use this time to pray “Thy kingdom come“; that the Holy Spirit may make Christ real in our midst, for the flourishing of all people.
