Fundraising
Why does St James' Church need to raise funds?
Each Church of England parish church is a standalone charity, responsible for maintaining its own buildings, funding its own activities, and contributing money to its Diocese for the training, housing and support of its clergy. Although much of our income comes from regular and one-off donations and from our room hire, fundraising makes an important contribution to our income and also allows us to have some fun while supporting the church!
Bring and Buy sales
We hold regular Bring and Buy sales as part of our Saturdays at St James' activities. As well as raising funds for St James' Church they are a great way to meet people and find unexpected bargains, as well as the ever-popular cake stall.
Other events
During the year we have a range of other events such as ceilidhs, our Christmas Fair, and musical performances. These bring people together and help us to raise some extra funds. We welcome new ideas for events and activities that make use of the many skills of our local community!
