Admission to Holy Communion and Confirmation

At St James  we want children to belong as fully as possible and to benefit from participation in Holy Communion from a young age. Since 2006 Church of England regulations allow for children to be admitted to Holy Communion after a suitable preparation.

We invite  children aged 7 years old (school year 2) to join the six week preparation course. They should  be baptised and have attended church for at least six months. However if they have a good knowledge of the bible and a desire to be part of church please speak to the priest in charge about baptism and admission.

Young people from the age of 12 or 13 (school year 8) who regularly attend St James or another church are invited to join a course of preparation for confirmation, which runs over a period of five to six months.

If you are interested in this for your child or children then please contact the Priest-in-charge.
